Has being a star in The Twilight Saga movies held Kellan Lutz back in his career?
According to the latest rumors, Lutz lost out in a leading role for The Hunger Games because the producers didn’t want to cast anyone associated with the vampire franchise.
The Hunger Games features a number of well-known newcomers, such as Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson – and like the Twilight Saga – is based on a series of hit novels. So why was Kellan dismissed?
According to US Weekly, Lutz’ involvement in the supernatural vampire films was the only reason he lost out on landing the part to Miley Cyrus’ boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth.
A source revealed: “Producers told him they didn’t want anyone from Twilight.”
However, movie-makers have denied Kellan was even asked to audition – or approach the producers himself – to appear in the film.
“Kellan didn’t audition, but we think he’s talented,” said a spokesperson for Lionsgate Entertainment (who ironically acquired the rights to Summit entertainment, who make the Twilight movies, earlier this year).
