Harry Styles is learning how to make music with the helping hand of Gary Barlow, who is giving the teen singer lessons on how to write songs.
Take That star Gary has offered the One Direction singer the chance to work with him on a new track while they’re both staying in New York, as Styles has expressed an interest in developing his skills to become a songwriter in the future.
A source close to Barlow told The Sun newspaper: “Gary has been over in New York working on music for a Broadway musical version of ‘Finding Neverland’. He heard Harry was in town and arranged to meet up.
“They had a great afternoon talking about Gary’s life in Take That as a young bloke and then more recently. Harry is an attentive guy and really listens. He likes keeping older company and soaks up as much advice as he can get.”
The insider continued: “Gary talked him through his songwriting techniques and offered to write with him whenever they get the chance.”
During his visit to the Big Apple, Styles was spotted hanging out with London model Kara Rose Marshall at the Apple Store earlier this week. The pair were introduced by a mutual friend (Harry’s hairdresser) and are said to have hit it off instantly.
“She’s blonde and has more than a passing resemblance to his ex Taylor Swift,” a source added to the newspaper today (July 3).
“They’ve been spending loads of time together and it looks like things will go further.”
Barlow’s band mate Robbie Williams recently said he believes One Direction need a member of the group to be the responsible one, much like how Take That has Gary and Jason Orange
Williams said: “It seems as though there’s no Jason Orange or Gary Barlow there to tell them off and give them, ironically, a bit of direction.
“It would seem that it’s a band of Robbies and (Mark Owens). It’s going to be fascinating to see what happens. You know, their journey.”
One Direction will be releasing their first ever 3D concert movie next month, ‘This Is Us’, which was shot on the road with director Morgan Spurlock during their ‘Take Me Home’ world tour. The film is released in the UK on August 29, then a day later in the US (Aug. 30).
