Harry Styles is trying to overcome having two left feet by taking up ballet lessons.
The One Direction star and his band mates have previously admitted that they’re useless at dancing, but Harry hopes that by taking up the art of ballet and learning to be graceful, he’ll be able to copy the moves of Rolling Stones front man and personal idol Mick Jagger.
“Harry wants a career spanning decades like Mick’s and to have that he recognises that fitness, health and developing his body is the key,” a source told The Sun.
According to reports, Styles – who is also currently working on building up his biceps – recently spoke with Mick’s trainer and physiotherapist Torje Eike about Jagger’s fitness routine, and was told one of the best things he could do to improve his movement was to take up ballet.
“He spoke to Torje about Jagger’s intense routine of kick-boxing, running, weights and, most importantly, ballet,” the source continued.
“That’s the Achilles’ heel in Harry’s training. He can’t dance and neither can any of the 1D boys – their choreographer recognised early on that they shouldn’t dance on stage.”
So rather than working on intense choreographed routines for One Direction’s live shows, Harry is mixing hitting the gym with classical dance classes in the hope of keeping his stage performance simple, but impressive.
“Nobody works harder than ballet dancers,” the source explained. “It’s all about grace, stance and strength.
“Harry sees how supple Mick is, how he manages to stretch his body and do contortions. It’s a brilliant art form and will get more grace into his movements.
“If you’re graceful you can get away with minimalistic moves, which is what their choreography is about.”
