Actresses Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara have both been given starring roles in forthcoming comedy, ‘Don’t Mess with Texas’, which was snapped up by Universal Pictures in a fierce bidding war.
The movie, which will be penned by John Quaintance & David Feeney, sees a policewoman and a prisoner go on the run together from a crooked cop in Texas.
Reese and Sofia will be taking on the lead roles, although at this stage it’s not known who will be playing the cop or the prisoner
Besides starring in the film, Witherspoon will be producing the project with Pacific Standard partner Bruna Papandrea and Dana Fox. Sofia will also help out as co-producer, Deadline reported at the weekend.
Production will begin in March, 2014.
Prior to ‘Don’t Mess with Texas’, Reese will be next appearing in Atom Egoyan-directed drama ‘Devil’s Knot’, as well as ‘Inherent Vice’ and sci-fi movie ‘Passengers’, alongside Keanu Reeves.
