Despite recently ruling out releasing any new music in 2013 as he’s focusing his efforts on plugging current album ‘Right Here Right Now’, last week saw Olly Murs change his mind and reveal he may enter the studio to record a brand new song in time for Christmas.
During an interview, the ‘Troublemaker’ singer hinted he could even record a duet with a female singer, as it’s something he’s yet to do in his career so far.
When asked who he’d ideally collaborate with on the track, he told the Daily Star: “I’ve never done a proper duet so that’s an idea I’m thinking about at the moment.
“It would be nice to do something different for Christmas and there’s so many amazing artists around right now. I’d love to do something with Lily Allen, I think that would be really cool,” Olly told the newspaper.
The 29-year-old also told the publication that he’d jump at the chance to record a duet with ‘Diamonds’ star Rihanna. “Who wouldn’t want to do a track with her?,” he added.
Meanwhile, Murs is rehearsing for his forthcoming concerts this summer, which will see him supporting Robbie Williams on his ‘Take the Throne’ stadium tour this June and July. He’s also scheduled to perform at the V Festival in August, alongside Beyonce, Jessie J and Calvin Harris.
The ‘Dear Darlin’ singer recently confirmed his departure as a host on ‘X Factor’ spin-off ‘Xtra Factor’, with his replacement being announced as comedian Matt Richardson.
Olly’s former co-host Caroline Flack (who will remain on the show), said of him leaving: “Of course I’m going to miss Olly every day, but I am very proud that his music is doing so well all around the world.
“I really feel that Matt will bring something completely different to the show. He’s a real find, he makes me laugh and it’s great to introduce new talent. I can’t wait to get started.”
