Lauren Conrad: 'L.A Club Scene Destroyed My Voice'

Former reality TV star Lauren Conrad admits she has changed a lot since her days appearing on the shows ‘Laguna Beach’ and ‘The Hills’.

The best-selling author has swapped night clubs for flea markets and shoes for teacups, after revealing that her days of partying in Hollywood have left her with damaged vocal cords.

Conrad used to frequent hot spots in the LA club scene with her ‘The Hills’ pals Audrina Partridge and Heidi Montag, but revealed that she’s caused problems to her throat due to so many years of shouting over loud music.

Speaking of her days of partying, Lauren told Marie Claire magazine: “It feels done for me. I’m OK with it being done.

“I destroyed my voice when I moved to L.A. There are polyps all over my vocal cords because I was in a lot of loud places,” she explained. “If you listen to the first episode of ‘Laguna’, my voice is completely different.”

Speaking on the ‘Chelsea Lately’ show this week, Lauren is the first to admit that she’s matured far beyond her 27 years.

“My friends make fun of me because I collect teacups and saucers,” Conrad joked. “Inside I’m like 80.”

Lauren also revealed that she’s “always” at the Pasedena Flea market, picking up not just nick-knacks – but also inspiration for her fashion lines.

“The quirkiest little things I love. I do it a lot for inspiration for my lines,” she explained. “I love things that feel found or there’s just a little bit of charm to them. Especially for your home or something you’re going to wear, you don’t want it to look like everything else.”
