Keira Knightley has landed a role in mystery thriller ‘The Other Typist’, which will also see her stepping behind the camera to act as a producer on the film.
The movie is based on Suzanne Rindell’s novel which shares the same title and the script, which is set in the 1920s, centers around lead character Rose – a lonely typist at a police precinct in New York’s Lower East Side.
During the storyline, Rose becomes close friends with beautiful but mysterious new co-worker, Odalie, who shows her the bright lights of New York’s seedy, yet glorious underworld.
Rose soon becomes fixated on her new friend, bordering on an obsession.
The printed version of ‘The Other Typist’ has been a hit with critics, who have compared the novel to the work of the late great Alfred Hitchcock, as well as ‘The Great Gatsby’.
The Hollywood Reporter broke news of the movie earlier today (June 27), but it’s not yet known if Keira will be playing the rather reserved Rose, or the charismatic Odalie.
Knightley will next be seen starring opposite Chris Pine in ‘Jack Ryan’, which will be released December 25, 2013.
The British actress, who wed husband James Righton in a low-key French ceremony last month, is currently filming scenes for ‘The Laggies’, alongside Chloe Moretz.
The ‘Anna Karenina’ star is also in talks to join the cast of ‘The Imitation Game’, which would see her appearing on screen opposite ‘Star Trek into Darkness’ actor Benedict Cumberbatch.
