Justin Bieber is applying to become an American citizen, according to a new report.
The 19-year-old Canadian’s reputation has taken a beating recently after hitting the headlines for all the wrong reasons; speeding, fighting, arriving late to his own shows… And now, Justin’s even begun dating a married woman.
So in the hopes of winning back a huge chunk of his American fanbase, Bieber is reportedly being urged by his management team to apply for U.S citizenship.
“(Justin’s team are) desperate to save his flagging image by aligning him with his biggest fan base, which is in the U.S.,” an insider told the National Enquirer.
However, all the bad-boy antics that have led Justin to apply for U.S citizenship are the exact same reasons he might not get it.
“If he wants to get his citizenship he has to prove he’s of good moral character. His recent track record isn’t great,” the source explained.
“[Justin's] meeting with immigration lawyers, but it will be a waste of time if he doesn’t clean up his act.”
Justin’s behavior has attracted the attention of many celebrities lately, who worry the youngster may be going off the rails.
Even Simon Cowell, who’s had years of experience with young musicians, believes it’s time Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun gave the 19-year-old some time off.
“If I ever thought one of our artists was being overworked or over-promoted you would just have to say to them, ‘You’ve made enough money – take a year off’,” Cowell told Fox News. “You have to be sensible about it.”
