Alicia Keys reveals she sometimes worries about younger stars like Rihanna, but is proud of the way the ‘Diamonds’ singer has handled her success.
The ‘Girl On Fire’ star says fame can be tough on younger celebrities when they put their lives into the public eye, although admits RiRi has done a pretty good job at managing the spotlight so far.
“It’s such a tricky, crazy business, and when people are a little bit younger than me, I’m always hoping that their soul is good ’cause it can be such a soulless space,” Alicia explained.
Talking with the upcoming issue of ES magazine, Keys added: “I’m proud of Rihanna, because it’s not easy to stand up in this crazy world and make it and keep going and try new things, and find your way through it.”
It’s not just Rihanna who gets her approval, Alicia also admires the United States’ First Lady, Michelle Obama.
“I very much connect with Michelle,” she explained, “and we’ve done different things together that have given us so much to talk about – she’s really interested in girls and empowerment too.”
Alica’s interview appears in ES magazine, which will be available in this Friday’s (June 14) issue of the London Evening Standard.
