Nicole Scherzinger has become a household name since she fronted girl band the Pussycat Dolls and she owes it all to will.i.am.
The Black Eyed Peas star has revealed it was actually him who got her into the group back in 2003, after he recommended Scherzy to Interscope Records boss Jimmy Iovine at the time.
Recalling how he helped her out, will.i.am said: “One day she calls me up and is like, ‘Will, I want to do an audition. Can you get me in?
“So I was like, ‘Yo Jimmy I know this girl that will be dope for the Pussycat Dolls.’,” he added during a live chat on Google+Hangout this week.
“I introduced him to her and that’s how she got into the group.
Since then, Nicole and will.i.am have formed a strong friendship and have collaborated on his new album #willpower, teaming up on the song Far Away From Home (listen below).
“It’s like, me and Nicole – no matter what I’ve been through in my career – she’s been there,” he gushed over the 34-year-old beauty.
“I don’t know anybody who sings like her. She can do anything!”
