Paul Wesley: 'Early Acting Career Got Me Kicked Out Of Schools'

Paul Wesley has admitted that having a busy acting career while he was still in high school was both a blessing and a curse.

The Vampire Diaries hunk was cast in US soap opera Guiding Light during his junior year in high school, and revealed that although it was a great way to kick-start his acting career – it was a struggle to keep up with school while working.

“It was both stressful and unbelievably rewarding,” the 30-year-old told August Man.

“For me, going into Manhattan three or four times a week to film during high school was an escape from the typical New Jersey suburban life.”

But while Wesley – who plays Stefan Salvatore in CW’s supernatural drama – admits that acting through his teens helped him grow up, it also got him into trouble at school.

“I was exposed to a lot at a young age that really helped shape who I am today. At the same time, schools were kicking me out for poor attendance,” Paul revealed.

Wesley also confirmed that he was due to both star in and produce two upcoming films – taking him one step closer to his dream of becoming a director.

“I am currently attached to two films as an actor, both of which I’m producing. I intend to forge a career as a director as well,” he explained.
