Earlier today reports linked Joseph Gordon-Levitt to the forthcoming Sin City prequel and now he’s confirmed his role.
The Inception star has officially joined the cast of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, which is the long awaited follow-up to Robert Rodriguez’s 2005 film.
Addressing rumors that he is involved, Joseph took to his Twitter page today to confirm what fans were hoping.
“This one’s no mere rumor,” he Tweeted, “and it’s gonna be fun as f**k. @Rodriguez. @FrankMillerInk. #SinCity #ADameToKillFor”
Deadline reports how Gordon-Levitt will play a character named Johnny, who Yahoo Movies describe as being “a cocky gambler who disguises a darker mission to destroy his most foul enemy at his best game.”
It’s also rumored that the role was originally intended for Johnny Depp before the Dark Knight Rises actor was cast.
The new movie is a prequel to the cult original and will include familiar faces from the first movie: Clive Owen, Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba and Bruce Willis.
The film is scheduled for release in October, 2013.
