Emma Watson may be one of the biggest names in Hollywood, but the actress was just mistaken for a child at JFK airport in New York. How embarrassing!
The Harry Potter star was passing through US immigration when she was stopped by officials who asked where her guardian was – even though Watson is now 22.
Luckily she’s not upset and laughed it off on her Twitter page afterwards.
An eyewitness at the airport told the Sunday People: “Emma was mortified. Not only did they not recognise her, they thought she was a child.
“It was very embarrassing but she managed to awkwardly laugh it off.
“The Americans are very serious about who they let in and out of their country. If young kids are thought to be travelling on their own it poses a massive problem.”
Emma later joked about the incident, telling her fans on Twitter: “Passport control: ‘Unaccompanied minor?’ Me: ‘Sorry?’ Passport control: ‘Where is ur guardian?’ Me: ‘I’m 22!!!!!!!’
“#neverwearingabackpackagain,” she joked, adding in another tweet: “The really sad thing is that this is not the first time this has happened.”
